Whooga Ugg Boots

This morning I got notification that I won a pair of Whooga Ugg boots. I've already ordered them and notification that they have been shipped has already been sent. Can't wait. I'm sure they'll be great for this winter. I ordered the classic chestnut short boots.

Lab test results

Last night I had pain in my abdomen and nothing I took relieved it. I finally went to sleep and when I woke up a few hours later it was gone. I'm still waiting on the lab results to see if I do, in fact, have Celiac Disease. I haven't been eating gluten so one would think that if it is Celiac the gluten-free eating would help the pain. The blood was drawn on Oct 16 and they said 7-10 working days so I should be hearing soon. Next Tuesday I have an appt with my GI doc. I am being very careful of what I put in my mouth. So far I've been in the ED twice, hospitalized once, had blood work (several times), had a CT scan, an upper and a lower endoscopy. I just want to know what it is. I hate being in limbo.

Celiac it is

Sorry about the lack of posts in the last week but I've been in and out of medical facilities. My upper GI biopsy came back positive for Celiac. I went back Friday to have a blood test to confirm the diagnosis.

I'll write a longer post telling about the week I spent trying to get a diagnosis.

Detectiveness

Hi guys! I'm going into detective mode. No I haven't been watching too many forensic type shows - well yes I have but that's not why. For the last 3 weeks I've been having digestive tract problems almost every day. I'm still eating clean and have been for several months. Nothing changed recently. But ever since the day I landed in the ER with cramping and other symptoms I've been almost constantly nauseated with cramping mid-belly. I wonder if I've got an ulcer. I'm going to the doctor after I've kept records of the episodes and what I have eaten so I can see if he can detect a pattern. My mother had celiac and I haven't been tested. I should go gluten-free for awhile to see if that changes things. Here goes...

TGIF

I walked around the hospital complex this afternoon to work off some of my fullness from lunch. I also did upper body stretching and this one squat type stretch I used to do before my accident last November. Yesterday was the first day I tried it and it still bothers my knees so I don't hold it very long. If you want to see a picture of the stretch check on page 66 of the October Health magazine.

For lunch today my coworker and I got take-out from Jason's Deli. I had a large baked potato with a little cheddar cheese, bacon bits, green onions and a big pile of homemade pico de gallo. It was the best tasting thing I've eaten in awhile. I love baked potatoes. I ordered off the menu and asked for just what I wanted instead of their prechosen combinations. That makes me feel good.

Good exercise and good food - good combination.

Lunch

I got up at 4:15AM to take my daughter somewhere. It was warm and rainy. I didn't think I would be able to go back to sleep but I did and I didn't get up until 8:00AM. I have to be at work by 8:30AM so I was in a BIG hurry. I made it !

For lunch I had a small piece of bar-b-q chicken breast without the skin, cauliflower, broccoli, and carrot mix, and a serving of yellow squash. For something sweet I got a large cup of summer fruits, mostly cantaloupe and grapes.

I'm doing the "I want to be the kind of person who..." in my head today. It really helps me to make the right choices. I'm going up to the school of nursing to get a 32 oz cup of ice water.
